Dear all,
In de marriage record of Teofil Nicia x Anna Maj (1902) is the occupation of
Teofil denoted as рольниковъ / рольниколѣ / рольника. I could not find an
english translation for it. The link to the record is:

However, I found for роль the translation roller in the meaning of iron roller mill.
I was told that both Teofil and his father Wincenty were charcoal burners who
delivered their products to the iron mill in Klepaczka. Around 1900 charcoal
was stopped as hard coal from Upper Silesia was used in the mill.
Could it be that рольниковъ means that Teofil was iron roller mill worker
(possibly in Klepaczka mill)

From 1868 onwards as one of the punitive measures for the January 1863 Uprising priests were made to keep vital records in Russian. But not all of them knew the official language well and sometimes wrote Polish words in the Russian Cyrillic script. What we have here is the word 'rolnikow', the plural genitive of the Polish word 'rolnik' which means 'farmer, peasant'. Thus Teofil was simply the farmers' son, which obviously doesn't exclude the possibility that his father also worked in a mill.
I looked through this Truskolasy book and the word 'rolnik' is used in different forms throughout.

It also makes clear why the handwriting of the text
often uses Latin letters instead of the correct Cyrillic letters.
